Obituary for Thomas W. Malone
Thomas Wade Malone, 88, of Crenshaw, MS, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2019.
Born June 20, 1931 in Coahoma County, MS, he was the son of the late Thomas Seabron and Blanche Horton Malone. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucy Goodwin Malone; two sons, Stephen Malone (Melissa) of Horn Lake, MS, and Chris Malone (Kathy) of Franklin, TN; one daughter, Stacey Malone Scott (Bobby) of Southaven, MS; nine grandchildren, Michael Malone (Amy), Carrie Duncan (Brandon), Adam Scott, Aubree Clark, Lindsee Little (Steven), Melodie Malone, Joel Smith, Annagrace Malone, and Shane Malone as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
Thomas graduated as Valedictorian from Dublin High School. He earned a B.S.in Education from Delta State University and Masters in Education, Guidance, and Administration from the University of Mississippi. After teaching and coaching at Crenshaw High School for a brief period, he served in the United States Army. He resumed his career in education at Crenshaw, before accepting positions at Maben and North Panola. A life-long educator, Thomas was a dedicated teacher, coach, and administrator in DeSoto County Schools for 25 years. He was a member of the Horn Lake High School Hall of Fame. Known by most as “coach”, this title accurately portrayed his character far beyond the football field. A leader, mentor, motivator, challenger, advisor, friend, and role-model, his impact and influence were far-reaching. He served as a deacon and Bible study teacher throughout his adult life. In retirement, Thomas enjoyed studying, serving as guest speaker in local churches, assisting others in his community, and spending time with family. Known for his faith, humility, integrity and generous spirit, his life exemplified Galatians 5:13 - “Serve one another humbly in love.”
Visitation is Wednesday, August 7, at 12:00 p.m. at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Senatobia, Mississippi. The celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in Longtown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Ray-Nowell Funeral Home.
