He was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, and was a Mississippi Crop Duster. Gee of Pleasant Grove; his “other brother,” Jack Hefferin and sister, Shirley Blackwood of Green Cove Springs, FL; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mae Reynolds Gee; his granddaughter, Gini Mae Fought; his parents; and his brother, C. Thomas Gee.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at 8:30 am in Pleasant Grove Methodist Church with Bro. Steve Frost officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The Gee and Sorrells families were as close as families can be. When I married Carmen and Audra came along the Gees took us in as family too. John and Mae and the children checked on Orma several times a day as long as she lived in Pleasant Grove. John's passing is a loss to us and a loss to the whole community. He helped everyone he knew and will be greatly missed
